About Maggie

Qualifications
Maggie Knoedler Rueda, E-RYT 500, is certified as a yoga and meditation instructor and a Reiki master, offering classes in the Farmington Valley (Farmington, Simsbury, Avon, and Canton) and West Hartford, Connecticut. Her teaching is inspired by Embodyoga, Ashtanga and ParaYoga styles of yoga, so her style is flexible and never dogmatic. Students learn to hold postures which flow with the breath and build heat in the body, as well as focus on alignment and the multiple dimensions of the body.

Maggie is a compassionate and nurturing teacher who creates intelligently sequenced flowing yoga classes that are challenging, safe, fun, engaging, supportive, and spiritual.

Professional Training
Having had many gifted teachers over the years, Maggie is sincerely grateful to them and her yoga practice.  She completed her 200-hour teacher training by studying Embodyoga with Patty Townsend in Amherst, Massachusetts.  She completed her 500-hour teacher training program inspired by Rod Stryker's ParaYoga with Sue Neufeld and Kathryn Templeton, both certified ParaYoga teachers. She continues her studies at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, in the lineage of Swami Rama of the Himalayas.

Maggie is also a Reiki Practitioner and Teacher. She received her Reiki I attunement in 2005 followed by Reiki II and III attunements in 2008 in the Usui lineage. She is an Essential Reiki Master and is qualified to pass attunements to others in addition to providing Reiki sessions.

Prior to teaching yoga, Maggie worked 15 years in the corporate world providing classroom training on various topics to employees.  She founded and ran an e-learning software design firm for 12 years, creating online training for corporate employees.  As a result, she is very familiar and comfortable with teaching adult learners.
